Details:
To perform the job successfully, the Psychology Assistant must be able to perform consistently each essential duty satisfactorily. Other related duties may be assigned.
-Completes accurate and timely psychological testing for interpretation by the assessing psychologist prior to the required court date
-Administers standardized intellectual, academic, and personality tests; risk assessment instruments; and self-report measures
-Records behavioral observations of the youth’s response to the testing situation including factors that might affect the validity of the testing
-Maintains records according to legislation and Youth Forensics Psychiatric Services (YFPS) policy and standards
-Notifies clients of their rights at YFPS, obtains all appropriate consents, and provides information regarding the complaints process
-Performs other related duties as required

-Education and Experience
-Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
-A minimum of two (2) years recent related experience which should include course work and/or supervision related to administering standardized intellectual, academic, and personality tests; risk assessment instruments; and self-report instruments

Psychology Assistant must:
-Demonstrate a cultural sensitivity and understanding of the client population’s socio-economic characteristics
-Have the ability to form mutually respectful partnerships with youth, and their families
-Have the ability to work with any client that is referred
-Ensure that personal values and beliefs are not insinuated, promoted, or imposed on the clients
-Have a positive conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change
-Have basic computer and internet skills
-Two completed, acceptable criminal record checks, one from the Criminal Records Review and one from the RCMP
