For almost 60 years, the Campbell River and District Association for Community Living has provided and advocated for local services to support people of all ages with special needs, their families and caregivers. The Residential Care Worker works as a member of a team responsible for assisting the residents in our group homes with activities of daily living and to provide opportunities to promote independence and self-esteem. The Residential Care Worker is responsible for introducing and implementing ideas and activities that will increase the resident’s independence and social skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field.
Three to six months prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with developmental disabilities.
Must have specialized seizure management training and tube feed training and/or be willing to complete training.
Performs the tasks of health care plans, including Delegation of Task, specifically seizure care plan, gastronomy tube care, gastrostomy tube meals, nebulized medication, prn medications.
Utilizes assistive equipment as prescribed by rehabilitation therapists such as overhead lifts, custom wheelchair, and positioning devices.
•Must display an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental disability and complex care needs.
•Has enthusiasm and energy to be a contributing team member.
•Must be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job.
REQUIREMENTS
• Negative TB test Clearance
• Food Safe Certification
• Clean Criminal Record Check through the Association
• Completed Physician's Approval of Health
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Class 5 minimum and Class 4 driver’s license within 90 days of hire
• Clear and Current Driver’s Abstract
• Non Violent Crisis Intervention (Available training upon successful application)
