This appointment is replacing an incumbent on a leave of absence. The end date of this temporary position is subject to change and could be ended earlier or extended, based on North Island Community Services’ (NICSS), operational or other requirements.
Summary:
North Island Community Services is a not-for-profit society that has successfully been providing community-based services to the Mount Waddington region for 40 years.
Funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) is designed to help families address the health, behaviour and developmental needs of children. Education, Early Intervention, and Prevention are strong components of the program.
CAPC programming helps to promote the healthy development of young children from birth to age six (0-6), who face challenges that may put their health at risk. The program supports vulnerable families to increase both adult and child health, develop problem-solving skills and strengthen social connections and capacity.
Qualifications & Experience:
The Ideal Candidate will:
-Offer both outreach and weekly drop-in services, that focus on family support, resources, education, health, nutrition, growth & development, early literacy, and positive parenting.
-Excel at developing trust-based and supportive relationships.
-Have strong knowledge of childhood development and community resources and services, particularly regarding families and children at risk.
-Be experienced in group facilitation, outreach, and program coordination, including program planning, budgeting and reporting.
-Prove to be an effective communicator (oral, written and listening) with a strong awareness of cross-cultural practices, traditions and values.
-Possess relevant post-secondary training, experience and/or education.
-Practice a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, ethics and sound reasoning.
Essential Qualifications:
-Valid Driver's License, clean abstract and reliable vehicle
-Approved Ministry of Justice Criminal Records Check
-Level 1 First Aid w/CPR (or willing to obtain prior to start date)
-Food Safe Certificate (or willing to obtain upon hire)
