Why Food Services at Island Health?
Flexibility
Our Food Service Worker roles are casual which means you choose the hours to suit your lifestyle. Maybe you have kids and want to be home after school, or you’re an early riser and enjoy early mornings. Or maybe you’re a university student with limited availability; we can work with you to find the shifts that are right for you. Looking for more? We welcome requests to pick up extra shifts. Working the equivalent of full time hours could make you eligible for benefits.
Variety
Working in food services is never boring. Each day you will be performing a number of food service duties, from prepping and portioning food, to serving food to our residents/patients, your day will be full of diversity. With a variety of locations and facilities from acute care to long term care, you will get to experience a number of different settings while working with a fun supportive team.
Growth and Development
We also offer training and educational opportunities through Union funded financial incentives and Island Health scholarships to help you grow your skills and develop your career.
Qualifications & Experience:
We’re seeking candidates who are at least 15 years of age and have a valid Food Safe Level 1 certificate.
