The Campbell River and District Association for Community Living is looking for dedicated care workers with community support, residential support or health backgrounds to join our Adult Residential Services team.
Casual positions are available in Campbell River and Courtenay. Once hired as a Casual team member of the association, you are welcome to continue your career on a casual basis or apply for any part-time or full-time positions posted.
The Residential Care Worker works as a member of a team responsible for assisting the residents with activities of daily living and to provide opportunities to promote independence and self-esteem.
The Residential Care Worker is responsible for introducing and implementing ideas and activities that will increase the resident’s independence and social skills. As the residential group homes are open all hours every day of the week, the hours of work for the position include awake nightshifts.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Class 4 Driver's License (UPON 90 DAYS OF HIRE)
• Class 5 Driver's License is REQUIRED to start
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Current TB test
• Criminal Record Check through the association
• Physicians Approval of Health
• Food Safe Level 1 Certification
• Clear and current Driver's Abstract
• Non Violent Crisis Intervention
• Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field.
• Three to six month prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with
people with developmental disabilities
• Previous experience working with people with dual diagnosis and
challenging and/or aggressive behaviour an asset
• Proven to have the ability to calmly and effectively work with challenging
and aggressive behaviour
• Have an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental
disability and mental illness
• Must display enthusiasm and energy and be a contributing team member
• Basic computer skills required
• Must be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of
the job
• Is comfortable swimming on a regular basis
