Tsakis Marine, a dynamic and growing company in the aquaculture industry, is seeking to hire Full-time Captains to work within our operations in North Vancouver Island. Tsakis Marine offers excellent industry pay rates, a bonus program, and year-round long term employment.
The Captains responsibilities include operating the vessel safely and efficiently, taking care of the machinery onboard, troubleshooting, directing crew for daily operations, and communicating mechanical issues and updates to the supervisor. Daily responsibilities will include operating the vessel in coastal waters year-round in adverse weather conditions such as high winds and fog, transporting the vessel to different work sites and operating and maintaining the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems onboard the vessel. The Captain is also responsible for cleaning aquaculture nets using a RONC- Remote Operated Net Cleaner and learning and following efficient, standardised washing practices in a safe and professional manner.
The work shifts are one week on, one week off, year-round with the possibility of occasional longer or shorter shifts as required. The Captain will live onboard the vessel and will have to travel to North Vancouver Island to report for duty.

Responsibilities and Duties:
-Providing First Class Net Washing services using a (RONC - Remote Operated Net Cleaner)
-Operating a commercial vessel in coastal waters year round in all weather conditions
-Ensuring all work is done in a safe and efficient manner while on and off the vessel
-Managing crew in a safely and efficiently
-Maintain and meet scheduled deadlines
-Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
-Understand and adhere to all government regulations, company policies, standard operating practices, WorkSafe BC regulations and company biosecurity rules and practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
-Active 60 Tonne Masters Certificate or better, ie: Fishing Master 4- 100 tonne Master, 150 Master Certification.
-MED A2- Marine Emergency Duties, ROC-MC-Radio Operators Proficiency Maritime Commercial, Certificates
-Strong team player able to maintain a positive work environment onboard
-Marine Experience as a commercial Captain in coastal waters
-Experience operating vessels in adverse weather conditions such as highwinds, fog and large seas
-Excellent knowledge in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems and troubleshooting skills
-Strong communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills a must
