Details:
This summer position pays $17.00/hr for a 35-hour week and will include day, evening and some weekend work. Some weekdays would include split shifts.The job is to deliver outdoor water conservation education over the summer on behalf of Strathcona Regional District. Through neighbourhood bicycle patrols and visits, the educator will engage residents to raise awareness on the best strategies to reduce water consumption in summer. Position is great for building public relations skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
University/college student with background in environmental education or resource management or related field. Characteristics that would make a candidate successful in this position include:
• Interest in ecosystem services and government/public role in efficient use of resources
• Ability to engage the public, listen respectfully and deliver the water conservation messages
• Ability to remain calm and centered when faced with a sometimes confrontational public
• Flexibility, creativity, positive attitude
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: Oral and written
• Computer literate: Excel, Word, Google Docs
• Willingness to learn
• Can work independently and as a team
• Must have own transportation and reliable bicycle
