Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Service Technician completes equipment installation and rigging, equipment commissioning, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting at customer sites for Poseidon’s marine systems. Between site visits, the Technician will support production builds and testing at our head office in Campbell River. The Service Technician uses their experience, knowledge, and skills to perform effectively in accordance to work orders and plans. To be successful in this role, the individual must be self-motivated with excellent problem solving, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills. They will also be required to have a high level of comfort with local and international travel and working in marine environments.

Responsibilities:

- Act as a technical support contact for issues concerning installation, maintenance, troubleshooting/diagnostics, and repair
- Work as part of a team constructing and installing both small- and large-scale aquaculture systems and equipment
- Perform testing and equipment inspections both onsite and at customer sites
- Assist in receiving, delivery and installation of equipment
- Interface with customers and end users of products and systems regarding service calls, warranty issues, product performance inquiries
- Identify and report non-conformance issues of materials, parts, and equipment with QC Manager
- Follow safe work practices and abide by all safety rules and regulations
- Understand and perform work in accordance with work orders and plans
Qualifications & Experience: 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Able to creatively problem-solve and trouble shoot
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Knowledge and awareness of safety precautions in marine based work environments
- Good working knowledge of how to use power and hand tools
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions and work with minimal supervision
- A detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with personnel with a wide range of industries and backgrounds
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications with an aptitude for computers & technology

Requirements:

- 2+ years of experience in Aquaculture or marine based settings
Must be eligible for international travel (passport and fully vaccinated against COVID-19)
- Valid BC Drivers’ License required
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Previous experience in a hands-on role in the trades (plumber/pipefitter/millwright/mechanic) an asset
- Previous experience in a manufacturing setting an asset
- Forklift experience an asset
- First Aid Certification an asset
- Must have steel-toed boots for first day of work
