4 positions available - These positions are for a Job Creation Partnership Project being hosted through the Regional District of Mount Waddington from May 28, 2018 to October 19, 2018. Project participants will work with the Project Management Team and follow directions from the Field Supervisor in carrying out actions to suppress and control invasive species in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Follow directions regarding the application of herbicides in suppressing knotweed
• Work safely and follow guidance of supervisor
• Work in challenging outdoor work environment
This is not regular insurable employment: Eligible participants may receive an allowance for participation up to the maximum EI rate of $547.00 per week.
Qualifications & Experience:
Project Participants must be unemployed and either have established a claim for EI Benefits or had an EI Benefit period which ended within the last 5 years or have earned more than $2,000 in insurable earnings and paid employee EI premiums on those earnings in at least 5 of the last 10 years and meet other related criteria. Participants must be determined eligible and be referred through the local Work BC Employment Services Centre. See a NIEFS staff person for details.
Skills required:
• Complete tasks requiring physical exertion (carry a 15L backpack sprayer)
• Maintain cordial relationships with the other team members
• Meet specified deadlines and work under minimal supervision
