The Quatsino Economic Development LP is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to fill the new position of Operations Manager. Quatsino Economic Development LP provides regional investments by establishing and operating commercial ventures, social enterprise, environmental partnerships, capacity development initiatives and employment opportunities.
Quatsino Economic Development LP is located at Coal Harbour, 15 km west of Port Hardy on Vancouver Island is the ideal gateway to an array of activities for the outdoor enthusiasts who enjoys kayaking, ocean and fresh water fishing, hiking, whale watching, and much more.
OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY:
As a key member of the management team providing professional quality outputs, the Operations Manager is a team player responsible for leading the execution of all business functions with a bias towards continuous improvements with importing and implementing best practices and innovation for our family of businesses. Setting the operational direction, you’ll prepare various business plans, strategies and budgets. The Operation Manager advances market initiatives while developing durable customer and supplier relationships. You establish priorities, monitor progress, and resolve problems and drive attainment Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) as you implement positive culture through clear and positive communication and close co-operation with all personnel. The Operation Manager will lead execution of special projects, programs, key capacity building initiatives and improvements.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Human Resources
o Develops action plans and maintains daily workflow
o Hire, retention and lead staff, skilled tradespeople and consultants
o Prepare employee work schedules and assigning their daily tasks
o Supervise employees and coordinates external contractors and professionals
o Ensures personnel are trained, qualified/certified and perform work safely and efficiently
• Financial
o Prepares operational budgets for approval
o Manages and implements budgets
o Oversee bookkeeping/accounting
• Property and Equipment
o Manages effective and safe usage of facilities in a manner which protects, maintains and improves the value of the assets and services
o Coordinates repairs and maintenance of property, buildings, and equipment
o Ensures compliance with permits, certifications and authorizations
• Marketing
o Develop various marketing initiatives which drive sustainable enterprise
o Execute marketing initiatives
• Health, Safety and Environment
o Leads and participates in planning personnel safety, training and risk reduction activities.
o Ensures safety procedures are followed and makes recommendations regarding safety issues
• Governance
o Makes certain the operational plans are developed, and put into action
o Ensure policy and procedures are up to date by recommending improvements, drafting and overseeing development including core policies of human resources, financial, records information management system and health and safety documents and manuals
• Service and Product Improvement
o Process improvement, and designing and implementing of continuous improvement strategies
o Developing and implementing communication tools and resources
• Project Management
o Identifying grant opportunities, writing applications and reporting
o Coordinates assigned projects
o Depending on experience, interest and business need may be assigned to operationalize projects
Qualifications & Experience:
Must possess a minimum of diploma/bachelor/master’s in Administration / Commerce / Accounting / Project Management or related discipline with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and possess a thirst for learning and mastering a plethora of talent needed to succeed in a small business environment. Demonstrated organizational, administrative skills and ability to handle multiple projects while meeting deliverables in a timely manner are essential. Your high self-motivation, creativity, resourcefulness and levelheadedness will also be valuable abilities. You will need to rely on your strong critical thinking, problem solving, and relationship management skills to work out any number of business solutions. Must have and maintain a valid BC driver license and reliable transportation as occasional local and regional travel is required. Education and experience operating a small business or project management in the natural resources or tourism sectors are considered assets. Specialized financial, accounting and marketing knowledge are highly desirable.
