Qualifications & Experience:
We are looking for a Data and GIS Analyst to join our professional team. The position involves the review and quality control of environmental data, data analysis and providing quality deliverables to meet reporting objectives. Candidates for this position must thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial consulting environment, with a keen eye for detail and quality.
The role will report directly to the Project Management Group and will be responsible for:
• handling environmental data used for analysis including quality assurance, pre-processing, transformation and manipulation of data.
• maintaining organized files and clearly document the procedures followed in handling of the data and subsequent analysis.
• conducting statistical and spatial analysis to provide data summaries in tables and figures.
• producing cartographic products, geoprocessing and creating and working with spatial data

• B.Sc. or equivalent experience in a quantitative field
• Technical Diploma or Degree centered on GIS and Environmental Sciences
DATA ANALYST EXPERIENCE
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on complex analysis tasks with other individuals with an emphasis on data management, documentation and consistency.
• Competent user of one or more scripting language for data manipulation (i.e., R, Python, Matlab).
• Working knowledge of SQL and database structure.
• Knowledgeable in fundamental statistics, data cleaning, data mining and statistical modelling. Comfortable with the concepts and utility of training and testing datasets.
• Experience in analysis related to environmental flows is an asset
• Technical writing is an asset
• Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and adhere to strict deadlines
• Desire to learn and receive constructive criticism
GIS EXPERIENCE
• 2 or more years’ experience producing cartographic products, geoprocessing and creating and working with spatial data.
• Experience with a professional GIS software suite, preferably ESRI ArcGIS 10 or equivalent open source suite (i.e., QGIS, GRASS, and PostGIS).
• Experience conducting spatial analyses and modeling including a familiarity of ESRI’s Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst extensions.
• Experience developing and executing spatial data models using ArcGIS Model Builder or other programming language (e.g. Python).
• Experience working with imagery and CAD drawings as well as strong knowledge of geographic coordinate systems and transformation methods.
• Strong communication skills including the ability to recommend and describe complex GIS techniques and analytical methods to a non-technical audience.
• Knowledge of remote sensing and geomatics techniques and methodologies. Strong understanding of raster data manipulation.
• Experience with web mapping considered an asset.
