Details:
The Healthy Living Elders’ Coordinator works closely with the Health Team and others to promote holistic community health & wellness for our Elders and aging population. The
focus is on preventative health strategies to promote the health and well-being of Elders and aging population within our community and to build relationships and connections with other Kwakiutl community members through a diverse range of programs: cultural, recreational, Elder development and education. Specific focus is also on promoting Kwakiutl language, culture and traditions with other community age populations.
Preference may be given to qualified applicants who are of Aboriginal ancestry and applicants with one or more years of direct experience with Elders. Class 4 driver’s license is strongly preferred.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Knowledge of the Kwakiutl community, culture and language an asset.
• Preference may be given to candidates with experience working with Elders and aging populations. KBC will also recognize a combination of relevant education, training and experience.
• Must have strong computer skills (i.e., knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Word, Internet research, and Email).
• Must successfully undergo criminal records check (see below).
• Must role model behavior that encourages Elders and aging populations of the community to live a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
• Must have and maintain a valid BC Class 5 license as a condition of employment & preferably have access to a reliable vehicle. Preference may be given to candidates who possess a valid Class 4 license.
- The successful applicant must also be willing and able to obtain a Class 4 license.
