Details:
Under the direction of the Rehabilitation and Fitness Coordinator, the Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for organizing and leading water therapy and aquatic and dry land rehabilitation sessions with clients referred from ICBC, WCB, physicians and physiotherapists in one on one and group situations. The Rehabilitation Specialist is also responsible for teaching adaptive fitness programs, personal weight training sessions, wellness workshops and courses and completing fitness testing.
This is a temporary full-time position for approximately 12 months.
Qualifications & Experience:
EDUCATION
• Kinesiology, Physiotherapy or rehabilitation related degree or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
• Considerable related experience in aquatic and dry land rehabilitation therapy.
• Experience writing reports in a clinical setting.
LICENCES/CERTIFICATES
• Bronze Cross Certification is required but National Lifeguard Service is preferred
• CPR C and AED Certification (current within the year) is required
• International Council for Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Certificate (ATRI)
• Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology Certificate (CSEP)
• American College of Sports Medicine Certificate (ACSM)
• BCRPA or a recognized Aquatic Fitness Certificate is desirable
• BCRPA or a recognized Adaptive Aquatic Fitness Certificate is desirable
• BCRPA or a recognized Personal Trainer Certificate is desirable
