Shelter Workers for Sobering and Assessment and Extreme Weather Shelter
The Sobering Assessment Center is a year round program with 6 beds ( low barrier ) During November through April ,The extreme weather shelter; a seasonal low-barrier 6 bed emergency facility open to street involved individuals on nights of extreme cold and/or wet weather in Port Hardy will run alongside the Sobering & Assessment Center. The successful candidate will: Monitor the activities of guests and be available for personal, practical and moral support, accurately record day-to-day happenings/incidents using established methods. Assist guests to access clean/dry clothing and laundry services. Coordinate guest care as outlined in program policies and procedure. Carry out inspections. May assist in the preparation of meals and serve meals/snacks/beverages. Perform janitorial duties of the facility as required. Due to the nature of low-barrier policies, applications should be aware that they will be working with intoxicated individuals.
Qualifications & Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS - Applicants must have grade 12 education or equivalent, current WHIMIS, Food Safe, and First-Aid certification. Wage rate: $14.50 per hour, Hours per week: shifts available for full time, part time and casual with various shifts. This is a contract position some benefits may apply.
