JOB OVERVIEW: The Fishing Guide is responsible for captaining a 17ft Boston Whaler, targeting salmon and delivering outstanding guest experiences. This positions responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Primary Responsibilities:
• Provide guided fishing charters to resort guests.
• Ensure your boat has the following documentation on board: vessel registration, driver certificate of competency, blue decal, self-inspection report, passenger safety briefing procedures and radio & motor operating directions.
• Follow all safety procedures and equipment requirements.
• Follow guide uniform policy throughout the season.
• Maintain organization, cleanliness and neatness of boat at all times.
• Provide and maintain quality gear for all guests.
• Communicate with other Painter’s Lodge guides while on the water regarding conditions
• Record and report any motor or boat damage immediately to the Operations Manager and Marine Mechanic.
• Follow all Painter’s Lodge and DFO fishing regulations and guidelines.
• Clean and bag all guests’ fish in accordance with Painter’s Lodge procedure.
• Act as mentors to dock staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education and Technical Skills:
• SVOP (Small Commercial Vessel Operators Proficiency)
• ROC-M (Restricted Operator Certificate Marine Radio Licence)
• MED A3 (Marine Emergency Duties A3)
• Level 1 Marine First Aid
Experience:
• 5 years boating/marine experience
• Local fishing knowledge an asset
• 2 years guiding experience
• Guest service experience an asset
Physical Requirements
• Able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
• The ability to stand for extended periods.
• The ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to work a variety of hours seven days a week
