Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North is hiring a contractual Build 'Volunteer Coordinator' for an upcoming building project in Campbell River. The successful candidate will work directly with the Site Supervisor and the Volunteer Manager, and will be responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers, as well as some site management. This is an 18 week contract position starting Feb 15, 2017. Hours between 25-40 per week, depending on stage of project. Wage to be determined. Duties would include
• Recruit, engage and manage volunteers for build project including team/adopt a days
• Onsite to welcome volunteers and ensure a safe and fulfilling experience • Training of other staff and volunteers on site
• Work with the Volunteer Manager to oversee build site management including safety, food services, public relations and special events.
• Input and maintenance of the online volunteer management database including scheduling
• Liaise with Site Supervisor to determine scope of work and volunteer requirements for each day of the project.
• Assist the Site Supervisor with general administrative duties, and procurement of daily supplies.
Qualifications & Experience:
o Ability to operate with limited supervision, troubleshoot in the moment
o Advocate, discuss and promote the mission of Habitat for Humanity
o Organizational skills, able to communicate effectively with staff and volunteers
o Ability to plan, foresee issues and adapt accordingly. Remain resilient.
o Able to be friendly and welcoming and offer a meaningful thank you
o Valid Driver’s License - Level One First Aid
