Food Safety Laboratory Technician

Marine Harvest Canada is recruiting for the position of Food Safety Laboratory Technician.
Reporting to the Fish Health and Food Safety Director, the Food Safety Laboratory Technician will support our production, quality and processing departments to ensure our product consistently meets all regulatory, company, certification and consumer food safety requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Ability to work within a team of professionals within the Fish health and Food Safety departments.
- Performing in-house laboratory activities including receiving, preparing and processing microbiological samples, data entry and reporting. Experience in PCR technique is an asset.
- Ensuring that safety practices in the laboratory (WHIMIS, chemical and biological safety) are consistently followed.
- General laboratory and equipment organization, cleaning and maintenance.
- Ordering supplies and maintaining inventory within budgetary objectives.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office and other computer programs as required.
- Assisting with other laboratory activities and projects when required.
- Well organized, focused and attentive to detail.

Qualifications:
- Minimum BSc or laboratory technician diploma with a focus on microbiology.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a diagnostic laboratory.
- Experience in aquaculture is an asset, but not required.
