Employer Testimonials

NIEFS is fortunate to work with many great employers, businesses & community partners.

Here's what they have to say about NIEFS...

Footprints Security is a 100% locally-owned and operated security services provider on Vancouver Island for the past 36 years. It has been our pleasure to grow our business in partnership with NIEFS. By using the NIEFS Job Board and attending their career fairs we have been able to hire job seekers from the North Island area to help fill our companies new and existing security contracts. Our company attended the career fair in October 2015 and were able to hire 4 new staff members while at the fair.

NIEFS has also provided us the opportunity to hold workshops to provide their clients with information about the Security Industry and what employers are looking for. NIEFS does an excellent job advertising and facilitating theses workshops. It has been my pleasure to work with NIEFS and I look forward to continuing this relationship.

Ian Pitcairn, Recruitment Manager - Footprints Security

As a very busy forestry contractor here on the North Island, Holbrook Dyson Logging Ltd. has been using the NIEFS job board extensively for ongoing job postings. We get great response rates to our postings and you can't beat the cost, FREE!  NIEFS will also collect resumes on our behalf which is a great service and time saver.  The NIEFS Job Board really is the go to place for job seekers on the North Island and we will continue to use their services for our recruitment needs.

As part of the Oak Bay Marine Group, Painter’s Lodge and April Point Resort and Spa have recognized NIEFS as a key community partner in assisting us with our seasonal hiring needs.  Hiring upwards of 200 people each season gives us the opportunity to work with NIEFS and their professional staff in hosting an annual hiring event on-site at NIEFS.

By posting the even on the busy job board and circulating to their Employment Advisors we generally get over 100 people drop in for on the spot interviews with key staff from our different departments.  This event really helps kick off our hiring season and all we have to do is show up, NIEFS takes care of the rest!  As a busy employer, we look forward to our continued partnership with NIEFS and their ability to connect us directly to local job seekers.

Western Forest Products manages forests and manufactures wood products on Vancouver Island.  We are proud of our sustainable practices and our people, and are interested in new employees with the potential to compliment and strengthen our workforce.  A wide variety of career opportunities are available at WFP from equipment operators to accountants, forest professionals to millwrights, landing buckers to log truck drivers.

NIEFS helps us get the message out when it gathers together local employers to participate in Forestry Job Forum where we can have informative dialogue with local job seekers.  Many useful contacts are made through this event.

We appreciate that the Forum is scheduled during National Forest Week to bring extra emphasis to what we see as very important work. The well-informed NIEFS team is always willing to help!

Lisa Perrault, Coordinator, Strategic Projects - Western Forest Products Inc.

Thank you for all the assistance you have afforded Keltic Seafoods.  Your considerations have in large part contributed to our labour force stability.  You previously brought to my attention the Canada Job Grant opportunity.

As a result, I have put 23 employees through various courses under the Canada-BC Job Grant including: Basic Boiler Awareness; Refridgeration Operator; and Sanitization courses bringing in instructors to Port Hardy.  Without such funding as you suggested we wouldn’t have been able to do this.  It is so important for rural employers to provide existing and prospective employee education and targeted industry specfic training.  This is key to our workforce stability.

Gordon Patterson, Human Resources Manager - Keltic Seafoods Ltd.

The Industry Training Authority (ITA) leads and coordinates BC’s skilled trades system.  ITA works with employers, employees, industry, labour, training providers and government to issue credentials, manage apprenticeships, set program standards, and increase opportunities in the trades.

In October 2014, the ITA partnered with NIEFS, VICA and BCCA to organize a Construction Industry panel which was attended by over 120 people!  Following this, the ITA provided participants in NIEFS Construction workshop and training series with industry specific information related to how an entry level position can lead to an exciting career in the trades.  Further,  NIEFS is an active member of the ITA led North Island Hospitals project committee ensuring up-to-date information is shared with job seekers and local employers and sub-contractors interested in the project.

Our partnership with NIEFS allows the ITA to continue to do great work at a community level and we appreciate the collaborative and innovative approach NIEFS takes in service delivery.  NIEFS is a community catalyst for supporting job seekers and employers and we look forward to our continued partnerships in 2015 and beyond!
